Classified Word Advertising

Is it better to run a classified word ad one time in 100 newspapers or 20 times in 5 newspapers? Think repetition. This works better if you run your ad frequently. The effectiveness may have more to do with how many times you run it than in how many colleges.

DZA Classified Word Policy- Last Updated 11-11-09

Classified word ads are an inexpensive option for advertisers to reach the college market. Best used with a campaign of repetition, DZA has placed these ads for a variety of clients.

It is necessary to ensure that the placement process is accurate and successful.

1. Ads will only be placed in the college newspapers that are available and electronically based. No schools will be offered that are not on DZA’s placement list. This list will be updated and supplied to any interested party at the beginning of each semester.

2. Submission of classifieds for placement must be on a company letterhead/insertion order. Format must be approved by DZA. DZA will no longer take email, fax or verbal submissions not on official letterhead. Requests for pricing can still be done via these methods.

3. Prepayments must be made before placement and prepayments must be in DZA’s possession before any advertising is placed. Mastercard & Visa accepted.

4. No tear sheets will be guaranteed. Those that are sent will be forwarded.

5. There will be no follow-ups for “proof” that an ad ran, since the newspapers do not guarantee ad proofs, DZA cannot.

6. No discounts are given on classified ads except a standard 15% commission to recognized agencies.

7. DZA has the right to refuse any classified for any reason. This is also so for the college newspapers themselves.

8. Ads such as work from home, egg donor, gambling, pornography, tobacco, etc. are usually refused by the newspapers. It is advisable to submit copy early regarding questionable content.

9. Deadline is two weeks prior to desired run date(s). Payment must be received by the deadline date

10.  A 25-word minimum charge will be applied to all insertions.
